About this Talent:
Firstly, I learned how to do my daily work at Moi Avenue Primary School through Active Participation. I actively participated in the activities we were assigned to daily. As the assignments became redundant, understood the method or procedure which I could follow to complete my assignments in a chronological and timely manner. Through active participation, the assignments that we were given and did not really have knowledge on, we learned hands on as we worked to accomplish the task at hand. I also worked alongside the teachers and non-teaching staff to understand how to accomplish different tasks which we were assigned to. This exposed to professionalism, teamwork and diverse perspectives of doing things from different people.
Secondly, I learned my daily tasks through Research and Knowledge Application. Most of the tasks that I was assigned to required research since I did not have knowledge in the subject. For example, I was assigned to generate marking schemes and mark examinations. Since I did not do Agriculture in high school, I had to conduct research on the subject to generate the answers for the marking schemes to make the marking process smooth and seamless. Knowledge application came in place in areas I had knowledge in. For example, I used to use my knowledge in Computer, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics to tutor the pupils in Moi Avenue Primary School. I also the knowledge I had to mark and date assignments that we were given by the teachers.
In addition to Research and Knowledge Application, I also used Assessment and Feedback as a way of learning what I was supposed to do. The host supervisor used to give a rating of the work done during the day. This would help us know where to improve as we did our duties. A teacher was often sent to come check on how we progressed with our tasks. The teachers would also give us tips on how to do the tasks better and faster. On the other hand, I used to write an area I would like to improve at the end of every day on my weekly log. This would act as feedback from my end helping improve on those aspects and learn how to better do my duties.
Lastly, I would use Mentorship and Goal Setting, to work through my tasks daily. Mentorship would from Mr. Noah a teacher at Moi Avenue Primary School. Mr. Noah made getting access to equipment that would help us power through our daily tasks. If we needed cleaning equipment or pens for marking, Mr. Noah would help us get the equipment. Having to set objectives in my weekly log made getting ready for the day’s tasks easier
