MY ICT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
ICT has been a bedrock of our present day media and information happens to be the greatest tool of velue chain.
This training was powered to steer the wheels of FOOD SECURITY in our “food basket state” to a direction of productivity and fruitful results, which will greatly thrive on the pedals of Information and Communications Technology (ICT). This will adequately drive Benue State to become a better economy as well as level up the downturns experienced in the past years. This has already given rise to:
- Timely awareness.
- Real time data and feedback.
- Enhanced Project research.
- Enhanced comparative development analysis.
- Implementation of AI to drastically reduce fatigue in human labour, among others.
The project is to make it possible by deployment of the necessary technological infrastructure that has the highest quality and capability to house the effectiveness in its implementation of before, during and after deployment of agricultural practices.
This shall make it a continuum also to create jobs on-the-go during the deployment of this modern technology while synergizing and synchronizing other subsystems of the economy together. We're ensuring that a zero hunger goal can be greatly achieved through the use of drones by timely controlling pest, disease and weeds in crops, reducing the cost of production, and reducing the human exposure to chemicals thereby increasing the quality and quantity of food produced.
In my experience to be precise, I have made successful community development project on ICT Training Volunteering for Community youth, in my home town; Makurdi South, Makurdi, Benue State, Nigeria. And this project came out with 95% positive result for myself and the local community, and quite influencial on the Community youth, scaling up for payable jobs for daily earnings. With the ICT skills, they could marry Computer and Agriculture: Agriculture is the backbone of Nigerian economy. The youth of my community are directly or indirectly reliant on agriculture. Farming involves risk & uncertainties, they could use computer for betterment the sector for following purposes:-
- Technical knowledge and guidance from expert for cultivation of crop like Shed-net or poly house.
- Testing of soil, supply of water in proper quantity (drip irrigation).
- Management of water, fertilizers, pesticides etc.
- Expert consultation for diseases on crops via videoconferencing for end users.
